Holding Doubt Honestly Without Losing Hope
Doubt is not the opposite of faith. It's often the sign that someone is taking their questions seriously.

The people who write to me about doubt are almost always apologising for it. They shouldn't have to. Questions asked honestly are a form of respect for the truth.
Make room for the question
Doubt becomes corrosive mainly when it has nowhere to go. Written down and spoken aloud, it usually becomes something workable.
- Name the actual question, as precisely as you can.
- Separate the question from the pain attached to it.
- Give yourself permission to not resolve it this month.
You can hold an unresolved question and a real hope at the same time. Most people who last do exactly that.
